Bedwetting is a problem we all dread dealing with , but eventually the diapers have to come off. I remember a time when I had to wash bedding and PJ’s every morning (and boy does that get old fast). It is easy to be tempted to let them continue wearing pull-ups or sleep pants forever, but there is an easier way.
Some kids make the transition to being night time potty trained quickly and effortlessly, but those that don’t can have a hard time for years. They may be afraid to stay the night with family or friends or feel like something is wrong with them (it’s no fun to see your child suffer like this).
I had a child whose issues carried on longer than they should have, mainly because she slept so soundly and walked in her sleep. I tried everything including waking her up twice at night to take her to the bathroom (but how long can you do that, right?).
After a lot of research I bought a bed wetting alarm called Malem. It wasn’t cheap, but I wanted a really good one (and boy was it worth it)! Even though I had her wear it for a month, the alarm was only triggered once. Seriously! Years of bed wetting fixed in one night!
My son wore the same alarm when he was three and he took just a little longer. The alarm would sound several times a week for the first month and then we were done! You would also be happy to know, on the nights when the alarm sounded, it would stop him peeing soon enough that only the underwear would need to be changed, leaving bedding dry. There was an occasional acceptation to this rule but very infrequently.
The way it works… Malem is a small alarm (about 2inches square), that:
- flashes light
- sounds alarm
when it gets wet.
A small clip attached to the underwear detects the tiniest amount of urine, and the Malem wakes your child before he finishes urinating. He is now fully awake and you can take him to the restroom.
This process ensures that the child is awake and aware when he gets up (forming a good habit), and teaches him to do this on his own.
Malem was one of the best investments I ever made. After both my children were done using it, my sister used the same one for her two kids (successfully I might add).
I can’t say enough about Malem and encourage you not to waste any time getting one for your child. The sooner the better, and you will both be happy you did.
My kids were both so proud to be cured of bedwetting, and really felt they had accomplished something. I hope you help your child jump this major hurdle in life as soon as possible and I am convinced that Malem is the best bedwetting alarm available.
